Founded in 1878, the Belvedere Club is an exclusive seasonal community located in northern Michigan about 40 miles north of Traverse City. The club operates on a seasonal basis from around Memorial Day through the Labor Day holiday with several generations of member families coming north primarily from throughout the Midwest and South. The club members are much like an extended family and take care to recognize the staff through daily interaction and programs such as the scholarship fund each year for the children of the staff.

The club encompasses 120 acres of very scenic lakefront property and includes 91 member-owned cottages.  Club amenities feature the Belvedere Golf Club, a very highly rated 18-hole golf course which has hosted the Michigan Amateur Championship numerous times; tennis courts, two clubhouses, and a beachfront with sailing and boating activities.  During July and August, the club has an active social calendar, a junior recreations/day camp program, and daily food and beverage for members and their families.  The culture of the club is an active family friendly environment serving a very active membership comprised of various ages.

The members of Club are seeking the consummate professional to lead a dedicated team of veteran employees.  The current General Manager/Warden has been with the club for the past 20 years and is retiring after the 2012 season. The new Warden will work alongside the current manager for a few months next season to ensure a smooth transition.  Potential candidates will be among the best in the industry and possess the appropriate combination of professional demeanor and presence, management skills, leadership qualities and a personality best suited to the culture of the Belvedere Club.  The Warden will oversee all facets of the club’s operations and be the visible and accessible leader to members and staff alike.  A friendly and outgoing personality is a must as well as a strong working knowledge of first class service and club/resort management.  The goal for the General Manager/Warden is to provide outstanding service on a consistent basis, taking care to ensure total member satisfaction and participation.  This is a year round position.

Requirements for the position include:

§ An outgoing and adaptable personality; dedicated, patient and loyal.

§ A great appreciation for the culture and history of the Belvedere Club.

§ The desire to live and work in a northern, rural environment.

§ A minimum of 5-8 years as a General Manager, Assistant General Manager or Director of Operations of an upscale club, resort/hotel or similar outdoor club setting.  Current or prior hospitality experience in the Midwest preferred.

§ Excellent financial and budgeting skills.

§ A degree in hospitality management would be a plus.

§ Diverse Food and Beverage experience to include member dining and large holiday events and private weddings.

§ Lodging experience would be a plus.

§ A background that includes very proactive member and guest interaction.

§ The ability to be a “quick learner” as to new responsibilities and duties.

§ Highly energetic with a passion for service.

§ A career path marked with stability and tenure.

§ Impeccable and verifiable references.
